Whistleblower rewards in Utah

ProgramWhat it paysLaw
Utah False Claims Act
Covers Medicaid / health care only (medical benefits paid under state-administered programs)
No whistleblower share. The act has no qui tam provision; only the Department of Health and Human Services and the Attorney General can enforce it (§ 26B-3-1113)Utah Code §§ 26B-3-1101 to 26B-3-1115 (formerly Title 26, ch. 20)
Federal WHIP$10,000–$30,000 per tip that leads to criminal chargesDOJ terms
Federal False Claims Act15–25% of the recovery if the government intervenes; 25–30% if not31 U.S.C. § 3730(d)

Utah law does not pay whistleblowers a share of state recoveries, so the federal programs are the main route to a reward.

Utah's 'False Claims Act' is a state-enforced Medicaid fraud statute with criminal and civil penalties, but no whistleblower suit and no reward share. Utah does not appear on HHS-OIG's list of state false claims act reviews, approved or not approved, so it gets no DRA §6031 incentive. drAQualified=false is inferred from that absence. The current code version of the part is dated 5/3/2023, after the 2023 recodification from Title 26 to Title 26B. Utah residents with Medicaid fraud tips would have to use the federal FCA for any reward.
