Whistleblower rewards in South Dakota

Federal WHIP$10,000–$30,000 per tip that leads to criminal chargesDOJ terms
Federal False Claims Act15–25% of the recovery if the government intervenes; 25–30% if not31 U.S.C. § 3730(d)

South Dakota law does not pay whistleblowers a share of state recoveries, so the federal programs are the main route to a reward.

No state false claims act / qui tam law. Medicaid provider fraud is handled as a crime under SDCL ch. 22-45 (Unlawfully Obtaining Benefits or Payments from Medical Assistance Program). No 2025–2026 false-claims or qui tam bill found. The AG's MFCU page no longer lists a phone number; 1-888-497-3100 comes from the AG's consumer-protection site (consumer.sd.gov). The old DLR URL /ra/overpayments/report_fraud.aspx now says 'page has moved'; the current page is /ra/report_fraud.aspx.
