Whistleblower rewards in Ohio

ProgramWhat it paysLaw
Federal WHIP$10,000–$30,000 per tip that leads to criminal chargesDOJ terms
Federal False Claims Act15–25% of the recovery if the government intervenes; 25–30% if not31 U.S.C. § 3730(d)

Ohio law does not pay whistleblowers a share of state recoveries, so the federal programs are the main route to a reward.

Ohio has no qui tam false claims act. Pending bills SB 72 and HB 976 (136th General Assembly, 'Regards filing false claims with the state') would create one; as of Oct 2026 SB 72 is still in Senate committee and HB 976 is only introduced. Not listed on HHS-OIG's state FCA review page. ODJFS's single Report Fraud page also covers unemployment fraud (same agency), so no separate UI entry.
